Becana Devencorn
Tenement Consultant NT
Becana Devencorn joined AMETS as Tenement Consultant NT | SA in May 2024.
Becana completed a Bachelor of Laws & Arts from Bond University in 2004 and furthered her education with a Master of Laws from Ghent University in Belgium in 2007. Her extensive experience includes roles as a Land Manager for several mining companies, where she developed a deep understanding of statutory requirements for mining and exploration activities across various states and West Africa.
Becana will be a valuable asset to our tenement management team, providing essential support and ensuring our operations continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
It’s my shout for morning tea, how do you take your coffee?
Hot chocolate with lactose free milk. (This coffee addict has recently gone cold turkey).
What is it that you do at AMETS?
Assist the team with NT & SA tenement management. I enjoy helping the team and our clients wherever needed.
What do you love about your position?
I love that I can contribute to the overall success of the team and our clients. I also enjoy that there is flexibility to assist in the many facets of mining and exploration activities to drive the success of our clients.
How do you spend your time when you are not at AMETS?
I’m generally on the go. I love spending time with my three boys and our favourite activity is going to the beach and collecting rocks and other treasures. (I usually have rocks and sticks floating around the back seats of my car). I am always learning something new in my spare time. For example, at the moment I am learning about business development & marketing, as well as exploring new ways to use different materials in personal art projects.
What are you most grateful for?
Family and the opportunities I have. I learnt early on in life that life is short so I’m grateful that we are all healthy, happy and have been given so many opportunities; we just need to go after them and have a go.
What is your ideal holiday?
Hawaii is a favourite location and ideal in the sense of being with the kids (there is a lot of beautiful places to visit, and a lot for them to do and explore) but the next place on my bucket list is to go to Sicily. I’d love to get a better understanding of my heritage.
Which three things do you take to a deserted island?
Assuming kids are out of the equation –
- A knife;
- A magnifying glass; and
- A satellite phone (I’ve assumed a plane equipped with a pilot is out of the question).
Insect spray was up there (as being bitten by mosquitoes drives me crazy) but it would run out. Satellite phone instead of an apple air tag as an apple air tag would require a family member to log in and see where I was… and that’s just not reliable. 😊
What do you love most about being an Ametarian?
I enjoy being a part of a team of amazing people. The team is so supportive towards each other and to our clients, always friendly, welcoming, supportive and sharing knowledge.
Do you have a favourite quote?
Striving to live by:
“I’m a person who’s fastidious when choosing everything I do and have in my life, and I also like to surprise people with what it is that I do.” (David Bromley)
Is there anything else about working for AMETS that you think we should know?
There is such a diverse team at AMETS, so clients are well placed to draw upon their expertise, and be supported by a team with such a wide range and wealth of knowledge.
