Debra Howes has over 18 years of senior administrative experience across a wide range of industries in mining, local government and private organisations. She holds a Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma of Event Management, IAP2 Certificate of Engagement and is a Justice of the Peace.
Debra has worked in the community and media liaison area for eight years with a mining company in the Gunnedah Basin, NSW, which provided her with exposure to NSW Mining Tenement monitoring, compliance and auditing, as well as community and media engagement.
She also has over six years experience in the area of governance, corporate performance, communication and media roles in two Local Government areas.
Debra brings to AMETS enthusiasm, a high level of organisation, and a track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.

Medium vanilla latte, no sugar, full cream milk.
What is it that you do at AMETS?
I provide administration assistance to all of the AMETS staff across Australia as well as managing the website, social media and events.
What do you love about your position?
I love the variety of work – no one day is the same and working with an amazing supportive team.
How do you spend your time when you are not at AMETS?
I am an Australian and American Quarter Horse judge travelling across Australia and overseas judging. I also compete on one of my three horses and when time permits travel to ski.
What are you most grateful for?
My husband for encouraging me to follow my passion and my daughter for sharing that passion. Horses of course!!
What is your ideal holiday?
Snow skiing overseas to as many resorts as possible.
Which three things do you take to a deserted island?
My husband, our two dogs and a bed and pillow.
What do you love most about being an Ametarian?
The flexibility that working from home allows and the support provided from wonderful colleagues.
