Overview

The Advancing Antimony Grants Program is a new Victorian Government funding initiative supporting the early‑stage development of downstream antimony processing in Victoria. The program aims to strengthen Victoria’s sovereign critical minerals capability, build investment‑ready business cases, and support Australia’s role in global antimony supply chains.

Victoria hosts some of the largest antimony resources in the Western world and is currently Australia’s only producing state, making it uniquely positioned to develop domestic processing capacity.

What the Program Supports

Funding is available for pre-investment business case development and related studies for a proposed antimony processing facility located in Victoria, including: 

  • Targeted feasibility and technical studies
  • Engineering assessments and processing concepts
  • Market and supply‑chain engagement (including offtake discussions)
  • Flowsheet design, cost estimation and risk assessments
  • Pilot or laboratory‑scale testing to de‑risk processing approaches
  • Commercial, financial, market and IP advice supporting investment decisions.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

  • Australian‑incorporated companies
  • Incorporated associations
  • Indigenous‑owned corporations
  • Trustees applying on behalf of a trust (meeting eligibility criteria)

Applicants must:

  • Hold an ABN and be GST‑registered
  • Be financially solvent
  • Have at least 3 years operating history (or a parent company equivalent)
  • Demonstrate capability to deliver the proposed studies

Consortium applications are strongly encouraged, particularly where partners bring complementary technical, commercial or research expertise.

Successful projects will demonstrate:

  • Alignment with the Victorian Critical Minerals Roadmap
  • Clear pathways to downstream processing and investment
  • Economic, regional and supply‑chain benefits for Victoria
  • Strong governance, delivery planning and risk management
  • Capability of the project team and partners.

Timeline

  • Applications Open: 28 April 2026
  • Applications Close: 23 June 2026, 5pm
  • Applicants Notified: July/August 2026
  • Activities commence: August/September 2026 (within 8 weeks of signing grant agreement)
  • Activities completed and acquittal reports submitted: March 2027

Applications must be submitted through the Victorian Grants Portal and address all eligibility and assessment criteria outlined in the program guidelines.
