- Applications Open 2 February 2026 and Close 28 February 2026.
Overview
The Co-funded Geophysics Program (CGP) – Venture 3 is a highly competitive funding initiative designed to stimulate innovative mineral exploration across Western Australia. Delivered under the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) and administered by the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA), the program aims to unlock new geoscientific data in under explored regions of the State.
CGP Venture 3 is a competitive funding round, with applications assessed on technical merit and strategic value. Higher preference is given to:
- Projects in unexplored or under explored areas
- Regional to camp-scale geophysical programs
- Projects targeting critical minerals, supporting Australia’s future-facing resource priorities
Key Requirements
Eligible Sector: Funding is available only for mineral exploration projects within the mineral resources sector.
Project Scope: Projects must focus on geophysical exploration in greenfields or under explored regions of Western Australia. Priority is given to regional to camp-scale projects and those targeting critical minerals.
Co-funding Limits: The program provides 50% of actual project costs, up to a maximum of $250,000 per project.
Funding Allocation: Approximately $2 million per year is available under the Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) for CGP.
Application Period: Applications open 2 February 2026 for 26 days.
Competitive Assessment: Applications are assessed on technical merit, innovation, and contribution to new geoscientific knowledge.
Project Deliverables: Funded projects are expected to provide new geophysical data and insights, including identifying anomalies under cover, refining regional structures, and defining exploration targets.
Eligibility for Funding
Funding will only be offered to those Applicants holding, or having access to, a granted mining tenement, petroleum title or geothermal title.
However, consideration will be given to those Proposals where it is considered by the panel that an application for a mining tenement, petroleum title, or geothermal title is likely to be granted within a reasonable time frame (i.e. within 3 months from proposal submission) and that other approvals (native vegetation clearance etc.) will be completed shortly thereafter.
