The QLD Government Frontier Gas Exploration Grants Program is providing $21.045 million in funding to support on-ground gas exploration activities in the Bowen and Galilee Basins.
To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate how their program will contribute to increasing identified gas resources and reserves in these basins with an integrated strategy to bring gas to market in a timely manner.
Gas will continue to play an important role in underpinning the reliability of the electricity market as Queensland works towards a 70 per cent renewable energy target by 2032. Queensland produces around one third of Australia’s domestic supply, and this share will continue to increase as southern reserves decline.
Submissions for the program close on 31 January 2024, with all work to be completed by 30 June 2025.
